Movie 1 (brain.mov)
The movie was made from images acquired and reconstructed as explained for Figs1 and 3. It shows a 3D model of the crayfish brain with its subdivisions that were identified in a live crayfish after it was imaged with manganese-enhanced MRI. It starts with an overview of the external anatomy and zooms in on the part that was imaged at high spatial resolution showing the cuticle surrounding the brain. Reducing the opacity of this area and rotating the object allows viewing it from different angles. It then zooms in on the central areas of the brain revealing internal structures. The movie was constructed using Amira™ and Adobe© Premier©6.5 on a personal computer.
Movie 2 (thorax.mov)
The movie was made from images acquired and reconstructed as explained for Figs1 and 4. It shows a 3D model of the crayfish thorax and stomach with its internal structures that were identified in a live crayfish after it was imaged with manganese-enhanced MRI. It starts with an overview of the external anatomy and zooms in on the part that was imaged at high spatial resolution showing the exterior of the thorax. Making the surrounding cuticle transparent and rotating the object allows viewing it from different angles. It then zooms in on the stomach and reveals internal structures by passing a sagittal and coronal cutting plane though the stomach. The movie was constructed using Amira™ and Adobe© Premier© 6.5 on a personal computer.
